LWE presents: Futureboogie is 13
31st January 2015
10pm – 6am

The Laundry,
2-18 Warburton Road,
London, E8 3FN

Maxxi Soundsystem
Mark E

On January 31st, Futureboogie returns to the capital to celebrate 13 years of putting on parties.

From humble origins as a club night in Bristol back in 2001 Futureboogie have taken their ethos and sound much further afield and become a globally recognised name.  Now comprising of a record label, booking agency and management company, Futureboogie have brought unforgettable memories to the best festivals in the UK and beyond.
The 31st sees us welcome a couple of old family crew in the shape of Maxxi Soundsystem and Christophe alongside one of our newest recruits Mark E.

Needing no introductions Maxxi Soundsystem will be bringing his usual selection of upfront house music. To add to the family vibe, we’ve called on Christophe; a name Futureboogie fans will already be aware of thanks to his unswerving ability to hold a dancefloor.

Mark E's brand new Activity EP for the label, has garnered plaudits from across the board. The release continues to reflect the eclectic taste of both the label and its resident DJs Dave Harvey & Joe 90, who finish off the line up.

While 13 might be unlucky for some- for any club night to still be going strong for 13 years is surely testament to something; we're just not quite sure what…

Gilles Peterson joins us for NYE after superb summer 'Up On The Roof' parties over the last three years.
Starting off life as a club DJ, Gilles continues to spin passionately around the world. From Kazakhstan to Hackney, Istanbul, New York, Beijing and beyond … he has always seen himself first and foremost as a selector of discs for the Dance!

The formula for Gilles’ radio shows is a simple one: the finest new music he can lay his hands on…In addition to his BBC 6 Music show, Gilles records a separate weekly Worldwide programme that is syndicated to 8 stations across the globe including France’s avant-garde Radio Nova, VRT StuBru-Belgium, Arrow FM in the Netherlands, CRO Wave- Czech Republic, FM4 in Austria, Radio X and WDR Funkhaus Europa - Germany.

Every year, the musical heroes of the global underground are brought together and honoured at the Worldwide Awards - an annual celebration of the best music from the show that year held in London and hosted by Gilles.
Today, Peterson is at the forefront of his own independent label - Brownswood Recordings.

Not to be confused with the Tobacco Dock daytime event, this event will take place at The Renaissance Rooms in Vauxhall, with 3 of the finest artists on the international circuit combining for the first time ever.

Get some of the Mighty Leap's vibes into your day...

Skylarkin' Soundsystem's first ever release comes from a band who have been gracing our clubnights and concerts in Oxford, London and beyond since they were teenagers - led by the mesmerising vocals of Desta Zion Wilson, Mighty Leap have recorded the soundtrack of summer 2014.

Over the years the band have shared stages with reggae greats such as The Wailers, Dawn Penn, The Upsetters, Susan Cadogan and Mad Professor, earning plaudits from the Prof himself, not to mention Bob Marley's right-hand man Aston 'Family Man' Barrett.

With Mighty Leap busy recording their debut LP of original material, it seemed appropriate to put out this live favourite, a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic, via Skylarkin' Soundsystem, the clubnight (and now label) that has supported them since day one.

We can't wait to hear them this Friday night!

Boudoir - Dance Assembly Presents:
Muzz Khan

Le Peep

For our UOTR After Dark Halloween Special, we are joined by once again by none other than Mr Norman Jay. As the Good Times founder, Member of the British Empire and all round good egg, Norman has represented the entire spectrum of black music, from soul, funk, disco, reggae and jazz, right through to the more contemporary sounds of house, garage and drum'n'bass.

Norman's legendary Good Times sound system, has been the go-to spot at Europe's largest street party, the Notting Hill Carnival, for 30 years.

Good Times was THE party that changed the face of the Notting Hill Carnival and which has become a summertime fixture at festivals worldwide. Jay set up his first sound system, Great Tribulation, in 1979 with his brother Joey, which became Good Times in 1981, the start of a 30-year residency at Notting Hill Carnival. Norman changed the face of the music.

Joining Norman is his original (then pirate radio) Kiss FM campadre, Colin Dale. To call Colin Dale "legendary" is no over-estimation,here is a Dj that has been one of London's most cutting edge Djs for over 20 years and still continues to surprise and marvel. For 16 years "Abstrakt Dance" was a ground-breaking show which quite simply bought Techno to the masses and made him a household name worldwide.

As well as being a regular guest at clubs such as Fabric, Rex, Pasha (Buenos Aires) and Love (Brazil) Colin has toured the Worlds clubs extensively and in doing so playing the best parties.....Dance Valley, Full Moon, Tribal Gathering, Sunrise, Energy, Love Parade, Automatik and Rage @ Heaven. Fast forward to today and it’s all systems go, there’s the new revamped Abstrakt Dance record label with excellent productions, a new studio in London and also regular “Wildlife” nights. He is still as busy and popular as ever these and is featured in the Sony publication All time 100 DJs.

Hosting the Boudoir is a party that has been causing quite a stir across London in the last twelve months, The Dance Assembly. Their inventive take on retrospective music has ensured their trips down memory lane have been a sell out!
