Meet. in the Boudoir

Due to other party commitments Get Diverted didn't get to celebrate last summer so it is double celebrations this time round! Acid House pioneer A Guy Called Gerald is headlining this special event with support from Farley & Heller. We can’t believe it’s been 7 years since that first wet Sunday afternoon on the then open terrace and we thank-you for your support in cementing Get Diverted as one of London’s leading outdoor parties and a true South London house music institution!

Our first headliner, A Guy Called Gerald pretty much kick-started UK acid house with his ’88 Hacienda classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State‘ (he was one of the founding members of 808 State) – gatecrashing the charts in the process – and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle music - and has since continued his role as one of the UK’s most dedicated producers. On top of releases on seminal labels like Perlon, Sender, !K7 and Beatstreet over the past 10 years, GCG released his 9th album ‘Tronic Jazz: The Berlin Sessions’ last year on specialist Berlin label Laboratory Instinct. We welcome one of dance music’s most unassuming heroes to take us way back to a time when US imports were streaming into the underground record stores in Manchester.

Supporting Gerald are Farley & Heller, who have had a huge recent resurgence including the first ever official vinyl singles number 1, with their collaboration with Underwold and Frankie Knuckles tribute, Baby Wants to Ride. Although prominent house DJs and producers individually, London-based remixers Terry Farley and Pete Heller enjoyed their greatest notoriety working as a duo. They first surfaced in the early '90s as part of Andrew Weatherall's Boys Own collective, making their debut with a hugely popular remix of the Farm's "Groovy Train"; hits for Espiritu ("Francisca"), Sunscreem ("Perfect Motion"), K Klass ("Don't Stop") and Secret Life ("As Always") followed. They have also had chart success with Ultra Flava and Pete’s solo release Big Love.

Tred Benedict completes our line up of guests, who you will all be familiar with from his popular Daytime terrace party “Spilt Milk”. Tred is a modern example of the rising talent emerging from the London underground and rocked the terrace at our opening party

The final piece of our line up is our trusty residents Elijah Collins, Rob Alldritt and Russell Wayne with Meet. taking over the Boudoir.

After sell out bank holiday parties to start the summer with Greg Wilson, Dimitri From Paris, Justin Robertson, Daniel Wang and more, Slide celebrate 21 years of parties in London and Oxford, welcoming one our favourite acts from down the years to headline, A Love From Outer Space - aka Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnston.

From modest basement beginnings, Andrew & Sean’s ‘A Love from Outer Space’ has risen to become one of the underground's best loved successes of recent years. Built on the manifesto of "Never knowingly exceeding 122bpm", the pair have espoused a slow burning and measured style of delivery that had long been out of favour in the new-fangled discotheque.

Embracing a musical cannon which far out-scales the myopic genre concerns of their contemporaries, that takes in ambient, dub, post-punk, disco, house, techno and new beat whilst keeping a firm eye on modern developments has won them a sizeable and doggedly loyal following.
After the terrific Slide rooftop parties with ALFOS in 2012 and 2013 we are very much looking forward to having them back this July.

Mark E heads things up in the club, making his Slide debut. Knocking out floor fillers like the Janet Jackson sampling 'R+B Drunkie', Mark E first appeared on radars in the mid-noughties as a master of the edit. It wasn't long after that he was turning out similarly deep and slow burning tracks of his own, releasing two albums on Spectral Sound.

Launching his Merc imprint for his original productions in 2009, the Birmingham-based DJ and producer is also still adding his finesse to other artist's work via his vinyl only 'E-Versions' series.

Support from Crimes of The Futures’ Scott Fraser and regulars Eskimo Twins plus residents Henry Greenwood, Rich Smith, Steve Robinson and more across the venue.

Get Diverted's midsummer shindig takes on an Acid House theme with 2 pioneers of the scene headlining. The Prince of Wales sun drenched terrace will take on a darker vibe as the sun goes down with the familiar sound of the Roland 303 delivering that squelching bass sound!

For this special party we are pleased to see the return of Just Be, having played what many described the best ever club room set at the 5 year anniversary. Matthew B Has held many guises in this journey through electronic music which began in the midst of the UK acid house explosion.

His identity and sound has undertaken many a metamorphosis through Bushwacka!, The End Soundsystem, Layo and Bushwacka! to settle for meantime on JUST BE! His 14 year residency acted as a springboard to the international circuit with Ibiza in particular holding a special place, playing at Cocoon, DC10 and Carl Cox’s revolution parties at Space. The journey continues with recent releases on Get Physical, Maison D’etre and 8BIT and gigs at some best clubs and festivals on the circuit.

We also welcome legendary Chicago house producer Marshall Jefferson. One of the original innovators in Chicago house, Marshall Jefferson had a hand in several of the music’s most influential early tracks. As a solo act, he recorded 1986’s “Move Your Body” – subtitled and unanimously acclaimed “The House Music Anthem.” He also helped record Phuture’s “Acid Tracks”, the first and best acid-house single. Later, amidst a wave of acid-inspired records, he grew tired of the sound and moved into a more spiritual form of music later termed deep house; and along with Larry Heard, he became one of it’s best producers

Tred Benedict completes our line up of guests, who you will all be familiar with from his popular Daytime terrace party “Spilt Milk”. Tred is a modern example of the rising talent emerging from the London underground and rocked the terrace at our opening party.

"On August 8th we are paying homage to London's acid house history and heritage by throwing a giant warehouse party at Tobacco Dock, but rather than looking backwards we're looking forward, inviting artists from all over the world which I feel embody the spirit of acid house in 2015.

First, we invite you to enter into a bye-gone era. A place where dance music was fresh and new. Where late nights turned into bright new days of inspiration and opportunity. You remember that first time you went to a party don't you? Your friends dragging you along... You, unsure if they might be crazy. As you approach an un-assuming warehouse, you hear the faint thumping of bass piercing the nights silence..." - Seth Troxler

Cyril Hahn
Southsea Soul Club
Concrete Music

Born and raised in the Swiss capital Cyril Hahn now resides in Vancouver, and spends his time making music that’s the sonic equivalent of an aphrodisiac. His sexed out remixes have built him up an army of fans globally, whilst picking up the support of The XX amongst many others. With his fingers busy on the buttons, he’s established a beautifully sophisticated style, blending house with R&B, soul and a little bit of sunlight. His productions aren't afraid to do different things that not only take him outside of the box, but redefine what the box is.

Wayward have risen quickly up the ranks with a sound that blends the UK house/bass fusion, with tropical and tribal inspired beats. Think Kaytranda meets Bondax, these guys have got a laidback house flow that’ll leave you dreaming of days of a summer long since past. With nods to hip hop, downtemp their productions ooze with fun…let the good times roll!

Lurking in the corners of Portsea Island is Southsea Soul Club. A dynamic collective of like minded friends seeking to bring a unique blend of their of tastes and styles, both old and new. With their debut release out soon, keen an eye out for this retro sounding outfit.

Infamous party starters and record label Concrete Music will bring with them a kaleidoscope of party music that touches on house, disco, garage and everything that falls in between. They have been chosen by Mixmag as one of the best student nights, hosted a stage at Bugged Out! and spend their summers doing boat parties in Ibiza.

Rooted in house, Mixed will explore the breath of the scene to celebrate eclecticism and the cross pollination of styles in electronic music. With the aim to showcase revolutions in the genre, Mixed will draw on forward thinking artists that have redefined styles through originality in the studio and innovation in the club. The last weekend of every month.

Get Diverted’s obligatory opening party this year brings Get Physical’s DJ T. to the much revered roof terrace alongside local hero and Lower East label head, Cozzy D.

Thomas Koch aka DJ T. has been a vital part of electronic music and club culture for over 20 years. Uniquely accomplished in both influence and scope, he has excelled in every one of his incarnations: DJ, label owner, producer, club operator, publisher and journalist. His career behind the decks began in Frankfurt, Throughout the 1990s, he was booked at all of the city’s essential clubs, including long lasting residencies at Plastik, Dorian Gray and The Box; by the end of that decade, Frankfurt, one of Europe’s epicentres of electronic dance music, had become indelibly linked with the name ‘DJ T.

T. also founded influential German-language magazine Groove. T.’s intention, which to this day, it remains as one of Germany’s most important publications for electronic music. At the start of the millennium he and friend Patrik Dechent opened Monza, playing a decisive part in it becoming one of the City’s hotspots. In 2002 T. (along with M.A.N.D.Y and Bookashade) set up Get Physical, which is to this day one of the leading Global labels in house and techno.

Whether DJing in his hometown of 5 years, Berlin, gigging internationally, T.’s sets are invariably stirring and extraordinarily varied. T. is no style fascist, nor is he a slave to trends; he is a bass- and groove-addicted club historian, with a firm grasp of the contemporary. His sets turn years of electronic music history into one finely rendered journey, making him the perfect choice to mix “Strictly DJ T. – 25 Years of Strictly Rhythm” which is being released in the build up to Get Diverted’s Opening Party.

We are excited to welcome back Cozzy D, a Get Diverted favourite having first spun under his Ninja Cowboy’s guise in 2008 and someone whose career has shared the same upward trajectory. Pushing an eclectic taste on deep house and techno, the phrase “forward thinking” is banding around lightly but is very apt to describe his sets. Cozzy runs the highly acclaimed Lower East label and with this and his productions going from strength to strength he is a name that looks set only to grow in reputation and stature.

Tred Benedict completes our line up of guests, who you will all be familiar with from his popular Daytime terrace party “Spilt Milk”. Tred is a modern example of the rising talent emerging from the London underground music scene and will be joined by residents Samantha Blackburn, Elijah Collins – so ensure you make your Good Friday a Great Friday with the first terrace party of the summer!
