Topic: age

whats the average age at bedrock brighton normally, cos im only 18 (and i look it) and i can just imagine it being really pretentious in there, and contrescending, it what you tend to get in most clubs of it's calibur - especially if the prog crew are what they're like on the net... lol. joking

Re: age

19 here.... no probs for me (i prolly look younger) proggressive tends to have an older audience than say hardhouse, mainly cos its intellegent music and most people arent mature enuf for it yet tongue so good on you for realising this way sooner than most

Re: age

yeah i love my prog, but im still into the crazy techno stuff as well, i was tempted to go and see fergie @ pussycat down the road instead.

Re: age

Don't worry, they never ask for ID at Bedrock London, although they sometimes check at Bedrock Brighton. I'm 25, but look about 15, although I'm getting on about 70.

Re: age

Im 19 aswell m8,

I 1st went clubbing when I was 15...

If you go in with confidance, say hello to the bouncer and stuff...your breeze in.

I think its awesome dancing with peeps all ages, some older folk are more hardcore than younger folk.

If you go 2 crasher...half the spotty teenagers are in a daze sitting on the edge wanking over PVD playing for an angel.

Re: age

It doesn't matter anyway. I got asked for ID a few months back and showed them the membership card, they LOVED it. Normally bouncers are friendly, excpet when yuo are totally trashed. My mate got himserlf banned for life last august at the beach for being a twat and sitting on the clozkroom window because he was too trashed to remember his coat or anything about it. Problem was, the other ghuy with him had dreds and is easily recognoisable, and the poor bastard lives in brighton!

Re: age

im not really that worried at all about getting in, im 18 and have a passport.... so there should be no worries at all - especially at the beach!

what i was more concerned about, is that now i am 18 having underaged it for 2 years, that once i get in, is it the type of crowd that will look down on people who look younger (i prolly look 17). i feel this is the case at even the more supposibly "cosmo" nights in brighton like sundazed and lunarcy.

i dress smart, as in not ben sherman smart and not like your average adidas lad, but just generally smart. so i wont really look like a "spotty teenager."

i suppose im not really your average teenager though, i mean, im the only one within my group of friends that actually cares about what music i dance to - the night im going to bedrock is the night that all of my other friends are going to the event - for those who dont know brighton - thats where the lager boys go and dance to s club whilst desperately trying to pull some girl who works in burger king.

i was at the big beach boutique 2 and absolutely loved digweed then, but my friends just didnt understand the music.... they said he was @#%$. i still have respect for them though, as they really dont care, they'll dance to the tweenies if there were "fit birds" around them - and why not? i wouldnt do it myself but at least they're enjoying themselves.

wo, ive gone on a lot now! suppose this is the only message board that would understand me so its quite nice to talk to my computer, almost escapism i suppose.

anyway, see you down bedrock, im the kid who looks 17 but is 18 with spikey hair. will he play tom mangan - chutney ? i need that tune. lol.

Re: age

Hi gristy

One of the things i love most about bedrock are the amazingly friendly crowds. It doesnt matter how old u are, i have friends ranging from 18 - 30+ ! And i met most of em at bedrock.

Get ur butt down there and stop worrying about ppl looking down on u... nobody will!

is there like a bedrock message board meeting down there, cos from reading this board, it sounds like everybody will be down there - like a cult.

Re: age

yeah i got your mail,

you're right, i should relish my youth and i do!

and im not trying to be old, i just don't like people who look down on me just cos i look and am 18.

im not really THAT bothered about to be honest, but i kinda get the impression that because the "prog cult" seems to be such a niche type thing, and seem to hate other forms of life - like the hard house and techno, i would of thought that you have to meet all criteria to be excepted!

Re: age

just read your comment about guiness.......

i see guiness doesnt fit into this elite cult either!

hehe

"a bit too working class"

What bollocks! I hate this view that prog crowds are up their own ass. A few may be, but not most of us. And i quite like techno, as do a lot of ppl on this board. Slagging off hard house & cheesey trance is another matter tho But hard house heads slag off prog too, so its even stevens.

The only criteria u need to meet in my book is that u give it ur all on the dancefloor!

Re: age

heheh

you're right, i just find it quite funny, cos you have to admit, from where im standing (on the outskirts of this already well established group) it seems there's a little cult going on!

and you're right it's only a few that seem to be really up their own arse, in fact im basing my entire judgement on some prog fans @ www.tracklistings.org who dam everything but prog.

i was a bit worried about what ajos said though about the guiness - "a bit working class" - is he/she joking? cos if he/she isn't that a few would deem that pretentious!!!

arent u abit "old" to be up this late mr khan tongue

Re: age

You are thinking too much!!!!

Nothing like a bit of Hard House with Ej Doubell.

Like me... you think too much. You should like what you like for the right reasons and not reject things that you like because it does not fit into your main interest as perceived by others... stuff other people's opinions.

There will be billions of opinions... most people here... think that John Digweed is the best thing since sliced bread... but based on my contact with various people/DJs... I would say that Danny Howells is the better DJ... a range of styles, a good rapor with the punters, always a smile for everyone and more rounded person overal. (And I am right).

The secret is not to diss other people... there will always be opposites.

Remember that your musical tastes change with AGE!! So there are no hard and fast rules with what you must fit into.

My life was...

Upto 16 VERY VERY Classical... orchestras and all that.

Then 16 to 20 ish... I went through my Rock Music stage... Friday night Rock show on Radio 1 and all that. Did not have long hair though... no greebo clothes for me.

Then I became a teacher and did not have time for anything.

Upto 5 years ago if kiddies bought things like Prodigy and any kind of Electronic music (artifical computer generated stuff) into school... I would actually frisbee it out of the window! Proper instruments that you strummed or blew were only allowed... none of this press a couple of keys on a computer type rubbish.

Now I have given up teaching and gone into a undisclosed job... nothing to do with Sony either. Progressive is now my life... clubs and all that... and I listen to nothing but Rob Duffy, JZ, DH, DT and other good names.

I wonder what I will be into... in 5 years time!

My Moto is:

"You cannot criticise anything until you have tried it at least once".

(Except drugs of course).

So the moral is:

"Just be yourself"

The Bedrock people are very friendly... the friendliest ever. (So unless you are a COMPLETE TWIT... then you will be okay).

Re: age

lol, funny stuff.....

sorry it's just im really in an irritable mood tonight, my close friend and his girlfriend have just jetted out to ibiza a few hours ago, and he's been winding me up all week about the fact that he's gonna be there for sashas bday at space on sunday = sasha and diggers back to back for 8 hours. @#%$. i hate him.

whats even worse is he's gonna ring me from the club. mind you he's gonna get a photo or two for me.

do you think it's sad if i take my copy of Diggers - MMII down with me to get it signed? after all, i am all young and impressionable!!! muhahah

Re: age

If u wanna get it signed then go for it! Some may think it's sad, but sod em i say!

I got a tshirt signed by him, how sad is that?? Mind u it was a customised Delta Heavy tshirt.

Re: age

Be Yourself!

I taken CD covers to be signed before... make sure you have a permanent pen/marker handy as well... not all Celebs carry pens on them all of the time... (I do though!)

If you are super organised... you can have a small plastic bag to keep it dry in for the rest of the 6 hours that you will be in the club for!!! (Don't want the ink to smudge with sweat do we).

Don't worry about Ibiza... Sasha is likely to be average because he will most probs be out of his tree. Enjoy Brighton.
