Topic: columnists needed

im starting a new website called the beat matrix, cos ive noticed a distinct lack of websites about dance music on the web that are filled with analytical and opinionated material, most seem to be just factual news.

the site will basically be an e-zine and one part of it is every month there will be three columns. i need people who are willing to write almost an essay on certain topics.....

the first issue, scheduled for october will have the following topics for the articles....

1. should a dj be limited be genre?

2. this high-culture clubbing scene (i.e. progressive house etc.) why do they hate hard house and commmercial trance?

3. thoughts on the commercialisation of so caled dance music sell outs such as paul oakenfold after his pop tune starry eyed surprise...

i hope to collect 4 pieces per topic but will be trying to get an even amount for contrasting opinions.

if you are interested then please dont just go and write something, please just reply on this board as i wont to sort of brief people more specifically.

i will upload a url as soon as soon as i have finished the design for the site.

if you are interested then the some other things in this months issue will be:

::: an interview with damian harris aka midfield general (hopefully: if not looking into interviewing somebody from either bedrock or bxr)

::: stereotyped : a comical articles on the stereotypical sub cults of dance such as the "crasher kid"

::: welcome to.... magaluf (each month there will be a sort of club scene review of a certain area)

Re: columnists needed

Hi there,

Excellent idea! I'm not not sure if I'll be a valuble contributor to your site. Only really have my own opinions and they're not very informed.

Would really like to know where to find your site. Sounds great!

Re: columnists needed

Hi Gristy, I'm interested in contributing either for the "high-culture clubbing scene" or the "commercialisation" topics.

Please e-mail me on T_ania@hotmail.com

So, what do you wanna do?

Re: columnists needed

I might be interested in giving this a go, not sure I'll have the time to contribute all that regularly, but I'll have a go if a topic comes up that seems like my thing.

would agree that outside of the ezboards, there are no sites really doing this sort of thing.

Re: columnists needed

Does this mean they are gonna do a 'sharks and their relevance to music' column, with your good self heading it Kev ?

I am sincerely hoping that AL2 has a cover with the scene from Jaws at the end where it gets blown into dogfood, and the sub-heading : "Alter-native Logic 2: All sharks must die"

Re: columnists needed

and me please mate - again I don't know how much time I can spare on a regular basis but would certainly be willing to contribute ad hoc. I've written a few internet articles before for Wanted Records (now defunct online record store)
