He does have a contract.

We could let him rot in the reserves.

there seems to be a lack of quality available strikers out there - hence the positioning for Suarez

could be intersting if he went Chelsea as he was sourced originally to be paired with Torres - before Torres fucked off

Hats off tbf.

Chelsea and Ivanovic certainly are; you can clearly see from the picture in that article that he's grabbed Luis and is violently kneeing him in the onion bag...another case of anti-Suarez bias going unpunished. Come to Arsenal Luis, you'll be protected from bullshit and get to play with the best midfield in the Premier League.

Cazorla, Wilshire, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Walcott and Podolski? That midfield urinates on Liverpool from a great height - he'd be like a pig in shit with those players.

Cazorla - yeh good player
Wilshire - highly overrated, if he was spanish he'd be considered very average. The english press love a potential new messiah and it's very slim pickings at present.
Arteta - you're having a laugh right ? a 1 in 5 games player at best
Oxlade-Chamberlain - poor control, average over-rated english player
Rosicky - pmsl
Walcott - lolcott went of the boil once he got his new deal
Podolski - shown why the germans didn't want to keep him - hardly set the prem alight has he now ?

Returning briefly to this overflowing river of fail, let's correct the schoolboy errors one by one:

Cazorla - Superior replacement for Nasri with a demonstrably better attitude. Coveted by many top clubs after excellent first season.

Wilshire - Rated highly by professionals and former professionals who know a future England captain when they see one. If he was available Liverpool would pay at least £50 million for him even if he was injured, because they always like to get the best deals for unproven English players.

Arteta - Excellent price for lengthy Premiership experience. Solid temperament and one of the 3 best penalty takers in the league alongside Lampard and Van Persie.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - Young, developing player with huge potential, hence early inclusion in the England set up. Powerful, direct and strong awareness. Can play wide, centre midfield or upfront and always does as he's told, unlike that massive Liverpool saviour Joe Cole, who would improvise making a cup of tea if it meant you not getting what you asked for.

Rosicky - Severely hampered by injury at Arsenal but one of most tactically aware midfielders in the league. A bit on the lightweight side physically but has a good engine and gives 110% whistle to whistle. Excellent ball retention, movement and passing ability, and on his day a matchwinner against anybody.

Walcott - Top scorer for a Champions League side is not to be sniffed at. England international and another player useless Scousers would knaw their own feet off to buy for £120 million if he didn't choose Ushited (which let's face it, he would if push came to shove)

Podolski - Played out of position most of the season. Still a solid hand but possibly not the wisest choice of signing to begin with given Giroud came in as well. Would walk into Dippershits front line in an instant if Suarez wasn't there, because they spunked a fortune on Andy Pandy and he's sooooooo much better than Podolski, right? Right.

Been having a toke again ?

Wenger has been a bottler in the transfer market since Reyes - after the initial advantage of knowing french football well, at a time when they were producing great players, he has hit a baron run.

If you are happy with the above squad then fair enough, but don't expect to be competing for anything this year otherwise you'll be sadly disappointed. Expect lots of Wenger face rubbing in frustration etc. while goners fans mask their disappointment with more balance sheet talk. I'll watch it all with relish.

Flaresy - do you seriously believe that you can make a genuine title push this season??!!

i think Arsenal have a 'talented' squad - but not enough big game players and the defence still needs work

you still need:

1. someone to run the midfield - a gap that hasn't been properly filled since Viera left & for me Whilshire is not the answer
2. a striker who will bang in 20 goals a season - direct RVP replacement
3. a proper centre half - Vermaeln is always injured, Mertesecker is too slow & the French geezer is a reg waiting to happen
4. goalie - massive weakness that hasn't been addressed

i just don't see you improving on 4th this season - so please shut the fuck up

Defo goner be interesting to see how it starts off this season. Plenty of unknowns but got to fancy Chelsea as the favourites at the moment.

Re: The General Footy Thread

If Moyesy can get the Utd players playing with the same intensity the Everton players played at, we'll surprise the doubters.

We have the talent and the know how. I expect the gaffer to give them a little nudge, a bit more hunger brought on by the competition for places wont do the players any harm either. Fergie retiring might not have the negative effect most people are expecting.

Re: The General Footy Thread

No, not for several months. Who are you on your days off, Phil Opian? Tedious and predictable bollocks.

Wenger has been a bottler in the transfer market since Reyes - after the initial advantage of knowing french football well, at a time when they were producing great players, he has hit a baron run.

Again, more bollocks. A lot of clubs with significantly more money than Arsenal simply caught on and upped their game on the scouting side, hence they were able to jump the gun on the shift in quality towards the Spanish and German leagues, for example. And the word you were looking for is 'barren'.

I'll watch it all with relish.

From all the way down in 8th place, one assumes.

Nope. Title's definitely coming back to London, but it won't be us or the Yids with our hands on it.
