Can. Learned when I was 18. I drive to work almost every day, which is a bit stupid because the distance is about 3 kilometres and I own a bike.

You live in Finland, where it's dark 3 quarters of the year and more cold than a stare from Stalin trying to win a war against you.  You probably have a sauna in the boot just to stay warm.  A bike in a Finnish winter seems like a suicide mission.  Oh, wait a minute...

I can drive.  I learned at 17 in a 1982 Ford Escort that had 4 speed manual transmission, manual steering and manual brakes.  It was a nightmare to learn on.  My dad was paranoid I was gonna get pulled over by the fuzz because it was starting to rust out, so he painted over it with a roller in white paint to avoid detection.  Classy.  By the time I was 18, I'd lost it due to speeding tickets.  I paid those off after a hard summer's graft.  A few years later, I lost it again due to unpaid parking fines and had to go to court to get it back.  Wrote my car off in 2005 after rear-ending someone and didn't drive again until 2008.  Insurance premiums were obviously a nightmare.  Basically if you live in North America and don't drive, you're either underage, live in a major centre with a population over 1 million, a student or really fucking poor.  It's a necessity here.  Life.  Story.

Recently drove in Roatan where drink driving and passing on steep mountain curves is a national passtime.  That was an experience.

Yeah, putting your feet down at full speed was always a chore.

I meant to say they weren't power brakes.  It was a bare bones car.  Actually scratch that.  It was a completely shit car.
