Alaskan King Crab would be, but you won't find them at the Happy Dragon Inn at Pevensey Bay, sadly.

I've got one with that sample too. Tribally drums on it but called Pure Columbian By G Thirteen. Came out well before Disco Shit if I recall correctly

I'm sure I have that somewhere too. Durrrrrrrrrrrrr.

But did they sample it or was it original?

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

I love threads like  these that really let you get your inner prog nerd out. lol

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

Disco Shit was by Prawler, better known as Oliver Moldan, I think.

I always wondered where the sample in Pole Folder - Apollo Vibes comes from.

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

From absolutely no film whatsoever, but a nice little sample of nina simone 'feeling good' and duran durans 'save a prayer'. either must have been used in some fkn film.

still have on 12" promo .

I knicked the same sample for The Fear:

Dune was sampled a lot back in the day.  Eon's 'The Spice' did the same.  This stillremains one of my favourite hardcore tracks:

Oliver Lieb also sampled Dune in his Spicelab stuff as well.

Nice shoe-in there Jase.

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

Another old favourite, Open your mind from Total recall

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

Not prog but the 'My time is yours' sample in The Shamen - Omega Amigo is from THX1138

The film also is sampled by Nine Inch Nails (the sample right at the start of The Downward Spiral)

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

That is a top spot Presto. I fucking loved those two Shamen albums En-Tact and Boss Drum - used to do acid and listen to them out in the fields at night around Hampshire during the summer. THX is also one of my favourite movies and arguably one of the best things Jewcas has ever done. Proper depressing post-apocalyptic headfuck gear.

Only watched it for the first time just before Christmas. Been on my to-do list for a while but it takes me forever to get round to watching anything. Recognised the samples instantly.

Mad Mark's favourite track of all time.

Re: Film Samples in Prog.

I'm going to embarrass myself here.  I don't even know if it's from a film, but a cracking tune from early 2000s and it had a American female vocal that said something along the lines of "From Florida.... At night they remember nothing" - it really is just something like that, my memory is fading fast.

Fucking killed me for over a decade, I've no idea what it is.
