Topic: The Golden Age of Prog/trance... 1996-2001

I cant contain it any longer, charlie austins injury has me seeking for solitude in a familiar place.

the golden strands of prog and trance.

A time when mien liege lord oakenfold ruled half the worlds population, like ghengis khan and stamped out any rebellious uprising with a raise of the eyebrow and a distasteful smirk playing across those cruel twisted mongoloid  lips , that said

"see the working classes at play"

a time when he crushed his dominion, and the worthless slugs that we are, with the breakdown of Z2'S "Iwant you'

kneel you dogs, at the spectrum of his omniptent powers and at his macaque  like apperance.

and obey his sensless and brutish demands of buying that dario g  taste experiance one sided promo collaberation  for £20 that sounded like arthur askey on the spoons  at 130 bpm....(ETC cranking up the efexor and citilopram here)

flick the switch igor..
as we regress  in the sensory deprevation tank  to the wonder years 1996-2001..

Nigel Dawson was the fucking don when it come to that sound. Seen him once at a night called Do this, do that and he absolutely tore the roof off - still in my top 3 sets ever witnessed.

Dropped this one which is a belter.

Awful control   Broken physics   Horrific AI   Weak voice work   Poor textures.

And that's just Wally on the pull.

Re: The Golden Age of Prog/trance... 1996-2001

I think we've done this thread a million times before.

Boring will be in here with his wand in hand before long.

Anyway, there were some boss tracks around up until 1999, then everything got a bit formulaic didn't it? After that, I got way more into house and techno for a while.

Fave producers for me were: Lucien Foort, Timo Maas, Jan Driver, Corvin Dalek, Paul van Dyk, Rowan Blades (Breeder), Sander Kleinenberg (My Lexicon etc, before he went shit), Futureshock, Asad Rizvi, Jesse Skeens (Medway), Jessie Houk (Scumfrog), John Graham (Tilt/Quivver), Parks & Wilson, Leama, Austin Leeds, Steve Porter, Cass & Slide, Stef Vrolijk, Pete Gooding, Way Out West, and of course EVOLUTION.

Nigel Dawson's Renaissance presents disc from around that time was awesome. And very true to his sets closing the Cross for Renaissance...

This particularly is a belter!

Re: The Golden Age of Prog/trance... 1996-2001

first got into this when i was 15 and heard a danny rampling LGDP on radio1. Pushed record on the tape player and I still have the tape somewhere. I can't remember a lot of the tunes but this is on there.

Some bangers on there. Especially considering the bpm I listen to now.
