Re: "Glasto"

Hannu will be in Heaven later, Metallica on BBC2

Re: "Glasto"

Good to see Nick Warren representing.  should be banging it out right about now.

Re: "Glasto"

Metallica were a triumph, absolute blistering set from start to finish. By comparison the Stones headlining last year now looks like an epic fail - a muddy, self-indulgent mess 30 years too late. Hetfield almost sounded like he was apologising for heavy rock with his onstage comments. He shouldn't have. There was more energy in that set than a hundred indie wank bands could ever muster at Glastonbury, clearly highlighted by the BBC coverage following Metallica with MGMT, who were fucking bobbins.

Re: "Glasto"

Metallica absolutely smashed it.

Re: "Glasto"

Metallica were great, just watched J5's set that was boss too

let us discuss this,  in the study with cognac and a fine young boy to hand.

i agree with you on many things alas not this, the stones are indeed these days  nothing more than carrion, for pixie lott and lilly allen to feast upon, but anyone who writes this stuff has to be respected...

Poor form to dismiss his 2010 Glasto set in my opinion - I happen to know a lot of work went into that behind the scenes and the result was terrific. Moving up to date, I also think the last two hours of Avalon aren't too bad at all, some cracking tunes in there.

the avalon set was the worst I have heard in a long time...too much non descript tech house or deep house which he seems to play more and more of...it didn't go anywhere.. I forced myself to listen to the 2nd half of the mix, even though I'd had enough by that point

Fibonacci sequence, yes I can count

Re: "Glasto"

Is it just me though or is James Hetfield starting to look like Val Kilmer

And yet, when he spent the last couple of years playing intelligent vocals he got cunted for it. When he played 'electro clash' he got cunted for it. Back when he started playing some breaks in his sets...he got cunted for it. People need to make their minds up about this guy. Stop blaming him because a shitload of producers are churning out bland records. Anyway, I thought 'non descript' was the current hot trend in the prog scene. I haven't heard a fucked up big room record in ages...it's all about as edgy as a fucking baby wipe.

Re: "Glasto"

Have to say though, Blondie can still rock it out, not too sure about the Beastie Boy cover though

Not gonna argue with you there ETC, the Stones are one of the greatest bands of all time. I was massively underwhelmed by them last year for many reasons. The sound was crap, there were too many noodley long extended versions of tracks and they just flat out looked like a sack of spuds out there.

Boiler Room livecast?

Re: "Glasto"

Just scanning through the highlights. What a racket ....can't fault Metalica for effort and mastery of the axe, but ffs what a din...

Don't the metalers have "monsters of rock" at Donnington for this tom foolery?

Re: "Glasto"

Well said Marcus. Metallica are right up there in the grim, turgid, overrated stakes. A complete fucking row. Music for the unwashed.

Part of the problem

Re: "Glasto"

Pity about the narrow world view, you two. The cultured amongst us have a broader taste and appreciation for the wide variety in music, and indeed life. No surprises though really...Marcus exists inside some sort of blinkered prog k-hole and Derms has a pathological fear of 'the Other'. Wouldn't expect either to respect or even understand the outstanding musicianship and command of the stage this band enjoys.

Had a raging argument, had 3 hours sleep from Thursday eve until sat aff - missed Saturday night totally.

Went in way too hard on Thursday at sasha (who everyone said was rubbish but i had a great time). Totally schoolboy and blew most of my weapons by Friday tea time (the festival start time)

Shangrila is incredible. There was a space where there was a net up with all these females rubbing their arse against. Happy to let you touch - liberating. Very strong acid at the stone circle.

hot since 82 was good. more to follow..
