Topic: Forget this prog house rubbish

I am sat here listening to a promo of the new Nightmares on Wax album.

Hauntingly beautiful, down tempo, and with the kind of production that could make Charlie May jealous.

Now this is what I call proper music. Make sure you check it out when it's release, and if you havent done so yet, kill the time by picking up a copy of Zero 7's album, or NOW's last album 'Car Boot Soul', the latter being my favorite album of all time.

So chilling I might slip into a coma any minute

Cheers Leon.

That's the one.

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

yeah - this stuff is what im actually "listening" to at the moment, house is for clubs, hip hop's for life!!!.......instrumental hip hop and down tempo breaks, nice stuff......N.O.W have a smart e.p out ages ago featuring De la soul which roxxxxx big style.

Matt - if you're into Smokers delight - I'll record on one longplay m.d, the following: Aim (2 l.p's), Rae and Christian, and some odd bits and pieces like mr scruff, dj shadow etc................the manchester "fat city" and "Grand central" records possee know how to make proper records.

good choice gecko - whens the NOW l.p official release date, you c.d ligger, you!!!

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

I'd really appreciate that Hodgy.

Talking of ligging, that Creamer&K album's not really 'doing it'.

Some good records, unfortunately it's with Creamer's usual hamfisted assembly.

Still, the Fortier album is still 'doing it'. That mix is fvcking wonderful.

Nayef?!

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

Not heard any of the music mentioned in this thread. Have to give it a try. Too mellow/chilled bores the baps off me though

Fortier CD is still storming it for me also. I would even go so far as to say that it is the best 2 disc CD I own. Other releases are good for on eof the two but this storms it across both

Also getting more into the second disc of Satoshi

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

Hodge, you know exactly where I am coming from mate. I think we should swap custom downtempo mindisc, although they would probably contain a lot of the same tracks.

Fat City, Grand Central mate, that is totally where it's at!

Do you have the mix AIM did for a magazine quite a while ago, was very much like Grand Central records sampler? It probably one of the greatest CDs I own today, when I moved up to London it was the only thing that kept me from going mad.

Few months back I bough the new AIM album and the new Rae & Christian compilation on vinyl, money WELL spent there.

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

Have you not got the Zero7 album Lee?

I don't think anyone I know who's bought it, hasn't enjoyed it.

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

I am just about to slip Creamer & K into my CD player. Hadfield, your comments suprise me though as I was under the impression the CD is open'ly mixed on computer, that being the concept of remixing tracks into eachother, rather than just mixing them.

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

Suprise you?

Why?

Whether it's mixed using a computer, or decks, I found it totally uninspiring.

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

i must be the only person who didn't like the zero7 album then!

on the other hand, the fat city stuff is great. really like those 'central heating' compils plus Aim's records (esp. his debut album).

also worth checking is rae & christian's mix of nightmares on wax "what i'm feeling" - awesome!

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

Matt - haven't got it. Fancy doing the honours for me when we have a spare moment?

Re: Forget this prog house rubbish

Zero 7 were excellent at Coachella. I went into a total trance for about 20 minutes and came to gently bopping my head in time to the chilled beats... marvellous.

Although Sioux had rather a lot to do with that...
