Topic: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

mine is Mortal- Road to Ruen.

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

Does it have to be one?

@nnax

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

the blim mix of "music takes you" has always been my fave.

that hybrid track is a gorgeous piece of music.

I know you hear the music............ but are you listening???

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

one thing about Symphony - in the best traditions of 'borrowing' ideas, Symphony lifts a little section off a composition by a Polish composer called Gorecki - you might know him from William Orbit's 'Pieces In A Rather Over-blown and Pretentious Style' album (hoho) . . . so slightly less respect for that (surely a little credit was due ?). Totally amazing record though - and the original is defo the pick of the bunch . . .

choosing one record is near impossible though . . .

the original of Water From A Vine Leaf
Fluke - Setback / Reeferendrum
Bushwacka - Monster
FSOL - Cascade
Orbital - Belfast
Hip Hop Phenomenon  anything old by Beber
virtually everything by Rabbit In The Moon (esp. Ripstop & Waiting For The Night & OOBE)
Greece 2000 - Three Drives (Farmatronic mix)
Sasha's breakbeat mix of Madonna's Ray Of Light
Justin Warfield - Pick It Up Y'all (Dust Brothers dub)

jesus  . . . and that was just thinking about it for a few minutes . . . !

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

hybrid - if i survive

and many others....

josh wink - higher state of conciousness
leuroj - isokora (bushwacka mix)
buswacka - monster
ils - requiem
the crystal method - busy child (uberzone mix)

and a few others when i can think of them

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

Busy Child - Uberzone mix

what a f##king tune that is !! Love the original too but that's the best mix by a mile. Fair play that lad jungle . . .

Love the Light mix and the original of Coming Back as well but have you heard Blowout from the last album ?? Huge.

Big up the Crystal Method (and further respect for having a cracking name as well !) . . .

Love Beachcoma from the Hybrid album too . . .

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

Get Busy Child was a track they used on a 'skateboard' Gap advertisement a few years back.
Never found out what it was till I heard the soundtrack to the remake of Lost in Space, and hey presto it was one of the tracks featured.
Wicked track.

Just thought I'd share that with you.

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

yea the whole album is insane...blowout is cool....but the bass on wild, sweet and cool is gorgeous.

way out west - enlightenment

is a classic too

BUT i can almost come from just hearing the melody on

sasha - fundamental

when forme dropped that in the star bar big_smile and then the beat came back in at the end of the breakdown.....OH SH T!

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

Favourite of all time eh ? Christ ........

Could be any of the following;

LSG - Netherworld - Kid Loops Mix
Bushwacka - Egyptian
Mortal - Road To Rouen
Liquid - Liquid Is Liquid EP
FSoL - Papua New Guinea (orig. and/or Hybrid mixes)
Friends Of Matthew - Out There
God Within - Raincry
Ragga Twins - Shine Eye
Nexus - Oblivion
Gus Gus - Purple
Frontside - Dammerung
Hybrid - Burnin'
James Brown's 'Funky Drummer'
and if we're allowed to include "electro" as a 'sub-genre' of the breakbeat family I could add to that list extensively, but I'll settle for .......
Hashim - Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)

Massive range of tunes there but I love them dearly - each and every one.

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

No way can I answer that...

Finished Symphony is one of my all time faves...
as well as Accelerator (specially with the Alanis Morrisette vocals on top)
Fibonacci Sequence is amazing... (as is most by BT)
Lots of Crystal Method stuff...
Hybrids mix of JC+SK I Love You

Christ - theres way too much...

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

Jeez. Will just have to put down a few off the top of my head:

BT & Tsunami One - Hip Hop Phenomenon
Orbital - Impact USA
Uberzone & Pilgrem - Black Widow
Timo Maas - Der Schieber (Funkin For Hope in NY mix)
FSOL - Papua New Guinea
Stakker - Humanoid
Electroliners - Loose Caboose
Plump DJs - The Push
Forme - Kick A Hole
PMT - Gyromancer
Rambo - Turn It Up (D.Ramirez mix)
Meat Katie - Strange Fruit
Koma & Bones - Morpheus

And tons more, of course. But I'll stick with Hip Hop Phenomenon as my favourite. It's special. smile

So the Uberzone mix of Busy Child is good, is it? I've seen it around recently and have been thinking of buying it... Looks like I'll have to grab that tomorrow...  roll

Prodigy - Narayan

which album is that on Jungle ?! Can't remember it off the top of me head.

Smack My Bitch Up still gets me leaping around like a loon . . .

Anyone ever get the WOW mix of Art Of Noise - Dream in Colour ?!
Proper lush chilled breaks number - musically superb. Out on ZTT I think.

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

nearly forgot about -

Hybrid - Forgive Me (with Alanis Morissette's vocals)

The white label of that accapella at the end of the Jagged Little Pill LP that Sasha and Digweed played towards the end of their sets years ago (when they did actually play the odd breakbeat tune) . . .

remember Splasha dropping it at Creamfields 98 and everyone standing open mouthed . . . until Jam Master Jay from Run DMC (RIP) decided to start sound checking his scratching over the top of it - great hip hop idiot.

F##king amazing tune - got a half decent mp3 of it . . . recorded from an acetate . . . what would I give for a clean copy . . . can only assume this will never see the light of day . . . booo !

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

don't think anyone's mentioned the best breaks track ever.  so i will;

lost tribe - distant voices.

i thank you.

if things seem shorter than they are, finish counting all the stars.  feel the years washed down again, another pay cheque to cash in.  pray the lord of flesh and bone, leaves you some to call your own, as we slowly feel our way, through another, shapeless day.... BOSH!

Re: wots your favorite breakbeat track of all time?

Jeez. Will just have to put down a few off the top of my head:

FSOL - Papua New Guinea
Stakker - Humanoid
Electroliners - Loose Caboose
Plump DJs - The Push

THE MAN HAS TASTE.

One of my prized posessions is the Push - got one of the original pressings and one day I will get it signed....  8)

The Plumps remix of Humaniod is pure class too.....

And as for Loose Caboose - one of the best classic breaks tracks ever.... a total c*nt to mix but who cares??? My bro dropped it in the Star Bar last Nov and it went nuts!

Also for me:

BT - Godspeed (cheesy I know but brings tears to my eyes every time)
Layo and Bushwacka! - Let the good times roll
and a recent one...

Layo and Bushwacka! - Love Story (Stanton Warriors remix) - YOU GOTTA LOVE IT!  big_smile

I kept hearing this track that I loved being played out, mostly at Funkt in Brixton, with Paul Hartnoll from Orbital constantly playing it. Being in a confused state, I started to think it was a new Orbital tune.

Then one evening, in my usual bar, with the usual DJs playing, in my usual state, it came on. I bundled up to the DJs to check for sure if it was a new Orbital tune and they went "What? Er... no, mate... this is us!" and it turned out that they were Plump DJs and that was The Push. And I felt like a bit of a dick. The end.
