Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

Team Sky got their tactics spot on again.

Tomorrow looks like a good'un:

Stage 11

"One of the shortest stages in the 99thedition. But riders beware, it is a tough one! The course is simple: after the first thirteen kilometres from Albertville, the peloton will be hard pressed to find a single inch of flat terrain! The cyclists will tackle La Madeleine, La Croix de Fer and Le Mollard one after the other before the final climb up La Toussuire."

Thanks for posting diagrams of hills, would never have worked out what they are doing otherwise.

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

Cadel Evans on the attack, fair play to him.

edit* he's paid for his effort on the final climb.

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

yup he looked utterly destroyed, Sky controlled it well once again - Froome looked on great form again, he might even hold on to that podium place at this rate as the rest of them do not look comfortable at all

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

Froome went a bit on the climb .. but was very very strong at the end. But for that puncture in the earlier stage and having to hold back under team orders on the 2 mountain stages he'd probably be vying for top spot.

Van Garderen looks like a real prospect.

Never thought I'd ever see a British 1st and 2nd in the Tour smile

Yeah Froome waited for Brad & TeeJay waited for Cadel. Think they will be fightining it out in years to come. Mick Rogers did an unbeleivable stint on the front yesterday.

Pleased for Millar today.

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

Yup great stage win for Millar. Froome could have got in yellow if he'd been allowed to go or would have certainly put more time into Nibali and Evans and be more assured of a place on the podium. Wiggins must have been digging deep on that climb by the way the team responded but still great to have them 1 and 2 in the GC.

Will be interesting to see if the sprinters get a chance today but that Cat 3 climb near the end may break things up

Another big day coming up ...

Sad to see Frank Schleck failing a drug test

This time its a diuretic ... can't see that he ever had any pounds to shed.

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

The whole sport is a fucking sham, full of drug taking cheats seeing who can take and mask up anything they can.
Same as Athletics.

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

I believe they've cleaned it up ... massively.

British crew will be clean, and now we're flourishing in the sport. One of the few things we're good at now that the dutch are better than us at darts.

Yanks still haven't bagged Armstrong for old crimes .. be interesting to see what they've got on him.

Simon, if you believe they've cleaned up cycling you may as well believe that the moon is made of fudge and Noel Edmonds is popular. They've been bang on it for years. And I say that as someone who followed the Tour for donkeys. And who could blame them? You wouldn't drive over some of the hills they've to cycle over. Mad man's sport and only achieveable by injecting monkey's blood or being off your tits on a concoction of head-melting drugs that even Stefano would turn his nose up at.
Except for Merckx and Indurain of course. They were clean.

Re: Tour De France 2012 thread

Naus this is SimonR you are talking about. Dont expect him to see sense. The same delusional dipper fan who fails to see anything how it is other than a few other peasants and almost certainly suffering symptoms  of early senile dementia .

I agree they've been bang on it for years, and yep, you won't fully stop things .... but its a world away from a few years back.

The English guys will be clean and insist their team is ... as Team Sky has blown everyone apart this year, its safe to say there's limited narcs in the rest of the chasing pack. They may need to dope up to catch up though.

The anti doping rules for using over the counter medication is stupid though.

Great win by Cav yesterday, like a bolt of lightening at the end. If he wins on the Champs and Wiggins takes the TT today it'll be some all round british record.

Roche Jnr has been doing well for the irish too - hope he comes on leaps & bounds next year.

Hopefully Cav showed his true form yesterday, ahead of the Olympic road race next weekend. He was fyling.

Reckon Wiggins will drive home the advantage big time today.

Fantastic ride by 'Brad' .... oops ... Bradley Wiggins.

History in the making, and great to see the British excelling in at least one sport.
