Topic: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

I'm a bit out of the loop on these things lately. Basically my amp went kaput a few months back and I'm getting a tad annoyed at being musicless, bar listening through my headphones. The speakers I have here are a bit shite as well so I thought I may as well kill 2 birds with one stone and treat myself in January.
They don't have to set the world alight. Just be half decent and not be too weedy.

Was looking at something like the M-Audio AV40.

So yeah. Around £100, preferably lower, but can probably live off lentils or something if I can get some decent ones for a little bit more.

Also just been looking at these Wharfdales which look like they might do the business.

M-Audio AV40. Theres no question these are the best for that money imo. Ive also got usb powered Frankenspiel FS1s and they are fucking rocking for the size and i can take them with my laptop when i go away.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

What is the point of asking a question and answering it yourself?

Get those M Audio and stop bothering me.

Better than those who ask a question having done no research whatsoever.

Will stick those M-Audios at the top of the list.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

If you could afford a bit more then the Alesis M1s come into play. Lot more weighty but still tight as a young boy.

He would have to get a job first, I'm sick of paying tax for people like him to be taking drugs and buying speaker on my handouts.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Good point. Forget about that. Hard faced cunts students are.
Bolox presto.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Don't students pay for themselves nowadays?

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Yep M-Audio AV40s are the ones to get.  That's what I've got.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Do Roland still make powered speakers under the Edirol brand? Mine are still going strong. The MA10As.

Crystal clear sound with a solid build quality. Paid about 75 quid.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Those Edirol MA10s are shite. We have a pair back home and they are simply awful; they don't do anything particularly well.

And yes, I'm not sure why students are being lumped in benefit scroungers. I just put it down to BF not understanding how the world works tbh.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

I consider myself told where the Edirols are concerned.

Some geeks may find it useful, Sabotini. Have you considered this?

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Be interested to hear what they are like but seems like youve taken the peasant students option and freed up 50 quid to buy a 3 month supply of pot noodles amnd saver bread.

Part of the problem

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Perhaps a little. But I'm also quite picky about sound quality and certainly didn't buy them just for being cheaper.

I hate Pot Noodles. Bachelors Super Noodles do the job better for less. There's a life lesson there or something.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

picky about sound quality and you wanna spend 100 gbp?

i'd save some more money and then buy good ones tongue

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

He spent 40 quid LOL  I could knock a set up better than that in my shed.  By the way thats a fucking very good point Faible.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

Like I said, they don't have to set the world alight, which yeah I guess does go against my pickiness with regards to audio fidelity.
We'll see when they turn up tomorrow and I've given them a chance to bed in.

Re: Recommend me some powered speakers for about £100

certainly have good reviews. Don't knock 'em till he's tried 'em.
