Topic: The good TV thread...

...Utopia, anyone watching it?

Watched the first three episodes on the belt yesterday (haven't seen last nights yet so no spoilers please).

Quality IMO, super-dark and spectacularly well shot.. love the asthmatic hitman

Re: The good TV thread...

Watched the first episode and missed the 2nd, but watched the 3rd last night and recorded the 4th. Really good stuff. I really like Misfits as well.

Re: The good TV thread...

There is a sepo one called The Happening that is supposed to be good, have the first three episodes on the d/l

Re: The good TV thread...

Been downloading Utopia.  Well smart.

Yep Utopia is pretty good so far.  That bloke wants to get himself a jacket that fits.

The Following shows a little bit of interest, not sure if its going to end up a bit boring and shit tho.

New show starting next week called Vegas.  Written i think by the guy that wrote Casino and Goodfellas.  Looks good.

Just finished American Horror Story II.  Worth watching purely for Jessica Langes performance.  She is superb.

Re: The good TV thread...

...The Following sounds interesting, how many eps in is it?

Yeah looking forward to Vegas, anything Pileggi is involved in has to be worth a watch

Episode 3 this week i think, Damo.

Re: The good TV thread...

Saw the first episode of The Following last night - liked what I saw.

...6 series? blimey, don't think I've ever watched it, that's the Duchovny thing right?

When something gets past season 2, I usually can't be arsed to start (The Wire being the exception)

Re: The good TV thread...

Season 2, eh Damo... "Season" 2.... is that what's going on now?

Re: The good TV thread...

...can't believe I did that, I even wrote 'series' in the same post too

I'm 'in' TV though Tom... I think it's allowed

Re: The good TV thread...

I've also just finished series 1 of Breaking Bad on box set.  Was good.  Will be watching series 2.

Re: The good TV thread...

Got "The Americans" lined up...

I heard the latest season of "in the loop" is supposed to be epic? Some random article I read about how it's a take on the whole news of the world drama? Loved the movie, haven't seen any of the tv show yet though.

Doing a Sopranos rerun marathon at the moment, flawless TV.

Re: The good TV thread...

Bet it all looks odd in black & white though, eh Rhouses?

..another one I've never got into, keep hearing good things

..hmm, fucking loved it but not flawless IMO, definitely meandered in parts. Suffered from not having a definitive story arc like The Wire I think. Despite all the artistic justifications I've read, there's no getting away from the fact that the ending was shite as well

That third season of Boardwalk is the best thing I've watched in the last few years, will take some beating

Re: The good TV thread...

Watched 1st two episodes of The Following (couple of dodgy Bacon moments in the 1st ep) but def going to stick with it as only going to get darker & more twisted

Into series 3 of Mad Men which is being re-run on Sky Atlantic. I can't put a finger on why its so addictive but it just is. Nothing 'cliffhangery' really ever happens but it just draws you in.  Well worth getting stuck into & perfect stuff to watch with the other half

Oh & ssshhhhh, don't tell too many people but Holby City is an absolute crackerjack of a series

Guess who's back .......... 'Odgy's back

Fucking what?

Re: The good TV thread...

...fucks sake, when it was all going so well, haha

Someone (Strudders) will be giving it the biggun' about Sons of Anarchy next wink

I'm with you on Mad Men though, beautifully made.. there's something so car-crash about that industry in those days, reminds me a bit of 90's Soho

Re: The good TV thread...

Saw the first few series of Californication which i enjoyed, then it went down the pan big time.

One can only have so much time for Duchovny putting his shades on and fucking hot 'chicks', oh and his baldy manager is a fucking rubbish character.

One of Strudders/Grant/Yantino Marvel films is more believable.

Wasn't In The Loop the film version of The Thick Of It series or are you talking about something else?

No mentions for Mrs Browns Boys yet,you all secretly love it.

Re: The good TV thread...

Just to add and second Damo on Boardwalk Empire.  I know we've already dicsussed it in the Boardwalk Empire thread, but for anyone that hasn't watched it yet, it's well worth it.  Really really good.

I've also heard that Homelands is one to watch too.  Meant to be very very good.

Re: The good TV thread...

...best thing about Boardwalk was the way it patiently built up the characters, with the peripheral ones becoming more and more involved. I remember people whinging about how slow series 1 & 2 were but S3 properly delivered

Homeland is worth a watch... S1>S2 for me though
