Girls Aloud - Call the shots

Wallop...

Frankly flabbergasted that that hasn't raised another 'wallop' or some such other response - either for the video or the quality breakbeat interpretation *ahem* of the original tune...

Re: Guilty 'pop' pleasures...

My 'guiltiest' ever pop pleasure - and all the following needs to be read/heard in the understanding that Richard Harris was one of Ireland's biggest ever cultural icons...

Richard Harris - MacArthur Park

The crappy three minute overview of it...

... the closest you can find on YouTube to the full, original, recording...

... Donna Summer's MASSIVELY camp early 80's disco cover - and quite probably the first track to earn the 'EPIC' tag...

Re: Guilty 'pop' pleasures...

Haven't these threads been done to death before?

There is nothing guilty about liking 'pop' music, a lot of it is great.

Maybe we should instead have a thread about guilty shit music pleasures ie enjoying anything charted by Zackster or listening to some genuinely pathetic hip hop like Mobb Deep or Bone Thugs n Harmony.

Andreas Johnson - Glorious...

Yeah, that's pretty embarrassing smashdad.

Some balls admitting to that one.

How can New Order or MIA be 'guilty pleasures' though? Madness.

I have always thought this was a great track...

The rest of his output's been pretty lame though.

What a strange comment.

Re: Guilty 'pop' pleasures...

I still get a wobbler on when I see the blonde sort from Abba spouting some pop bubblegum ditty on VH1. But that's more to do with me being a massive pervert than a dodgy taste in music.

Made one decent album and were later made a laughing stock by both Tupac and  Jay-Z.

Have you heard Blood Money? Possibly one of the worst hip-hop albums ever made.

Survival of the fittest and shook ones pt2 are both brilliant. Some of the later stuff is also quite good but not to the same standard as the infamous. Not heard Blood Money but assume its crap.

I agree that Shook Ones Pt II is an absolute classic.

Just not that enamoured with much of their stuff. Seems to me 90% shit to 10% decent. Some quality control wouldn't have gone amiss over the years. Even Noreaga rapped 'I can't believe I fucked up and made a half-assed album'.

Yeah, but his 'Moms' just died.

Duelling pianos, a paedo on drums and, curiously, most of the video filmed from behind the band. Legendary silliness.

I've had this stuck in my head all day. Not happy.

I've always managed to keep Flares at a reasonable distance mentally.

Grant, to the untrained eye, it looks like you have an obsession with the chap.

Smash Jr. has a bit of a thing for this fella so I tried playing the 'cool-dad' card and took her to see him at Brixton last month - thought I'd listen to the album a couple of times before we went - this is the only track off it I really rated and just about the only thing off the album that the cunt didn't actually do live...
