Personally, I can't wait to have a play

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

When I play......no dog barks!!!!

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

This is it as far as I know. The TR-8 is basically the 808 & 909 in one box

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

Acid should stay where it belongs which is in the past.

Part of the problem

And why is this?

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

Dont like it. Doesn't work in modern music. Can only think of the Babicz track a bit back where it sounded ok but in general its not a pleasant sound and its incredibly dated.

Am i allowed that opinion presto? I feel like you might have your 'defend acid at all costs' t-shirt on.

Part of the problem

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

That would actually make a pretty cool t shirt Derms...bold white letters on black. Duly noted.

John Digweed has two other brothers called Paul and Ringo

You're allowed it. I disagree, but you're allowed it.

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

Cant beat a bit of acid, Imo

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

Dermo must have been beside himself through the 80s and 90s then.

Wish I was old and a little sentimental.

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

Id be interested to see how much the synth costs, used to have an SH101 in a studio i worked in a few years back, great little piece of kit though it did have a tendency to drift out of tune now and then, the joys of old analog gear

theyd have two djs downstairs and in the early days have bouncers, dry ice and people monging on the steps .. massive queue to get in on a saturday morning with fast eddie/armondo/bobby konders blaring over the speakers.

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

Josh Wink always seems to get the right balance in his sets.

Quite like his new rmx too:

Substitute "revival" for "overload" then

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

I'm all for it, but I'm a bit disappointed that Roland didn't go down the analog route that Korg have been on for some time.  Korg's analog gear excites me a lot more.

They've more or less remixed the TB-303 to something that doesn't quite hit the mark for me and still sounds 'digital' despite it's analog modelling.

I'm still seriously interested in getting one of these:

I used to own a 303 and it was a noisy little bastard.  The signal to noise ratio was off the charts.

Re: Brace yourself for an acid revival.....

To further my point about Korg and how much more clued in they are to the current 'analog revival', they have just announced they're remaking the ARP Oddyssey and it will be released in September 2014.

Not that anyone cares, but years ago I just missed picking an original one of these up for $200.  I had a friend in a music store who would call me anytime any retro synths came into the store and he rang me.  I showed up and it was snapped up by some guy from Steinberg Canada a mere 5 minutes earlier.
